I run, I craft, I write, and I make your favorite clothes.

I have written books about sewing for children and adults and I'm the indie designer’s patternmaking secret weapon. I've taught video and in-person classes to anyone who would listen since 2008. I believe that sewing clothes is a radical act of self-love that increases your sense of self-worth. I'm basically your sewing fairy godmother.

So I received notice from the Detroit Urban Craft Fair that I was not accepted as a vendor for this year’s exhibition.

I’m trying to not take it so hard, but I really feel like crawling under the covers and crying for a week.

Wow Karen, I’m bummed for you. You do such amazing work, please don’t let this get you down.
Sara, who lurks more than posts in the Ottobre group.

That is so heartbreaking, I’m sorry Karen. :-( Apparently better things are in store for you than their show. But they really have no idea what they are missing out on, too bad for them.

Oh Karen, I’m sorry to hear this… They should know better! With the stuff you make, you’re sure to find admirers anyway, so don’t worry too much about that!

Oh Karen, I am so sorry about this. I knew this would be so much fun for you. Pick your head up, and remember there is always next year. Are there any other craft shows you could try to get into? So many churches have craft fairs before Christmas. I am sure you will think of something, you always do.

I didn’t in either and I was in it the last 2 years. I wanted to ask them why, but I think my feelings would be hurt more if I did :( Hang in there, there’s other shows:)
