I run, I craft, I write, and I make your favorite clothes.

I have written books about sewing for children and adults and I'm the indie designer’s patternmaking secret weapon. I've taught video and in-person classes to anyone who would listen since 2008. I believe that sewing clothes is a radical act of self-love that increases your sense of self-worth. I'm basically your sewing fairy godmother.

Cooking, Together

I love cooking with my little girl.  She’s so interested in helping with everything.  It’s really an excellent investment of our time, and we love to spend time together in the kitchen.

I love having those extra hands but even more than her skilled cutting and washing, I love to listen to her talk about each step as she does it.

“Mommy, I’m trimming the ends.  Look, these little leaves are falling off.  Mommy, I’m putting the leaves in the pan.  Should we put all the leaves in the pan?”  Without a breath, of course.

Breakfast Chef

We used some fabulous Isa Chandra Moskowicz recipes, as usual.  We are spending a lot more time cooking and experimenting with new recipes.  I’m so happy with Appetite for Reduction and Veganomicon, and Vegan with a Vengeance, that I don’t know why I even own any other cookbooks.

What’s your go-to cookbook? Do you cook with your children?  What’s your favorite part?  I’d love to know!

I don’t have a go-to cookbook but the kids do help me cook. Sometimes it’s scary messy! And it usually takes more time but they are learning. Boy can pour and flip pancakes. Girl is still restricted to non-stove measuring and pouring. She also helps me pick the veggies out of the garden, that’s fun to do.

My son sometimes help me cook.  He’s showing more of an interest now that he’s a little older(6)  And definitely is more interested in eating the meal when he’s helped prepare it.  I just picked up a new to me cook book, Vive le Vegan that I’m enjoying some of the possibilities.  I do love the How it all Vegan and La Dolce Vegan.
